Vietnam - the next upscale tourist destination

Vietnam's tourism industry is hoping for a banner year in 2008. Government officials are considering an increase of almost 20% compared to 2007. Traditionally a business destination, Vietnam is expanding its inventory of tourist attractions and services including cruise ships, golf courses and destination-type resorts that include all the facilities and services inclusive.

The Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism has encouraged members of the tourism sector to expand their advertising efforts and increase awareness of the world traveling to many attractions of Vietnam. Travel shows you can expect a larger number of participants that promote trips to Vietnam.

Throngs of travelers in Vietnam are encouraged to develop destinations and activities that attract tourists trotting the globe today. Training in customer service was highlighted indicating that officials from the Government of Vietnam are aware of the term "satisfied" in a free market economy of today. Local communities are encouraged to develop their own attractions to encourage tourism, providing employment opportunities for locals. Recent years have seen a huge increase in the number of "tourist" activities such as: beauty contests, sky diving and surfing competitions, sailing and even "eco-tourism" has made its way into the local lexicon.

4.2 million foreign tourists enjoyed the many attractions of Vietnam last year - 2007, an increase of over 17% compared to 2006. The countries of the United States, France and Australia, known for their citizens traveling were overwhelmed by nearly twice as many Chinese and South Koreans. Taiwan and Japan also contributed their share of visitors. The emergence of airlines at low rates in that part of the world has encouraged neighbors to come to visit Vietnam - expect to see middle-class Thais on the streets of Hoi An. Long-distance travelers from other parts of the world can fly in any large city in the south-east Asia and thus save money by using the airlines business fares to travel throughout the region with little expense. Saigon, Hanoi and Danang also are receiving visitors in this way.

Conde Nast Traveler magazine surveyed 30,000 travelers of the world regarding their favorite travel. Vietnam has been named one of the 20 most popular destinations in 2007.

Foreign capital is very excited about the possibilities for tourism in Vietnam. Billions have been invested by many of the worlds best developers including Saudi Prince Alwaleed Bin Talil.

The major benefits include increase in "small-time" operators in the tourism industry in Vietnam: Internet cafe abound, the small boat tour operators offer 1/2 day cruises, private cars and to provide local transport and foreign language driver / guide. Craft shops, tailor and souviner are everywhere. Farmers grow fruits and vegetables to restaurants and hotels. Are also growing prosperous.

The welcome mat is out in Vietnam! ......
