Your Business Title is an important marketing tool

Everyone wants to have a business card and everyone wants to have a title. I know that when I take someone's paper, looking for the title. I look at the title because I want to deal with the person who makes the decisions or the person who can make me the decision maker. If I see the Account Manager title, I know that I am simply dealing with a seller. If I see the Marketing VP title, I know that this person is closer to the top and can probably make some decisions when it comes to spending money on contracts. Look at your own paper, which way do you have? It 'a title that entice others to call you when something comes? It 'a way of sale? It's not bad to have these titles, because it lets people know what your job function and how they may relate to you at the business level.

If you are in a position of influence, you may not want to put the title on the card unless it's important for you to do so. I prefer to put my experience on my card. I am the CEO of my company, but my card only provides a Senior Consultant. In this way I will not be interrupted for any reason other than the things that have to do with my position as consulting.

Each time you present the card, you should expect to get someone else in return. Take a look at their title and ask them who makes the decisions regarding the type of work you do. Most people will be able to tell you. Then, ask them if they can let you know that person. You may be pleasantly surprised at their response .......
