Piracy and the application to the theory of Weber

Causality is defined as the study of the causes of social phenomena with regard to the course of history. For Weber was the probability of causation that a phenomenon occurs followed by another. It is closely related to time, since for him the time of occurrence of a given phenomenon is very important to understand it better. For the issue of piracy is very easy to relate to causality proposed by Weber. By using the historical sociology of Weber, it is necessary to know the history of piracy from the beginning, since this type of sociology focuses the historical context of the phenomenon. It is necessary to define the subject, for example, piracy exists throughout the world, such is the case of Chinese products, or products made in Taiwan. In defining the subject we talk about piracy in Mexico, and more specific piracy in the city of Guadalajara. It is known by the company in the market Ochoa of San Juan de Dios can find all kinds of pirated products, such is the case of watches, perfumes, clothing and accessories. How long has sold this type of piracy market?

More or less in the early 90's piracy began to abound in our city. Why did piracy? (Causality) is necessary to understand all the phenomena that have influenced to enable piracy. A clear example is accessibility with respect to prices, any person who wishes to obtain a cheap novel and may resort to piracy. On the other hand, there are other factors that have influenced the development of piracy, such as unemployment. In the years that piracy was born, the country's economic situation was very poor. People who do not enjoy a stable family economy may engage in the manufacture of these products to earn a living and better their economic situation. Piracy is closely related to unemployment, low incomes and access prices. Ideal types help us better understand how a specific social phenomenon. Weber raised four ideal types to better understand this phenomenon. The first is the historical ideal type, which basically refers to the social phenomenon in a period of time. The following is the ideal type of general sociology is similar to the first, only occurs in all historical periods and in all societies.

The third type is ideal for action, based on the actions of certain individuals on the phenomenon to be treated. Finally, the fourth ideal type is structural and relates to the causes and consequences to address social phenomenon with respect to treaty. The ideal type to be used for the issue of piracy is the fourth, then with the help of this ideal we know the causes and consequences of piracy. The causality is closely related to the ideal type, as mentioned above, some of the causes that have led to piracy is unemployment, low incomes and access prices, but ... What about the consequences? The consequences of piracy can be serious because they are affecting the economies of individuals or companies that sell "original?. Another consequence is the gap in Mexican law since piracy is a federal crime, but that is still performed. Any other result may be that many people are imprisoned for engaging in this illegal act.

For Weber it was important that personal values did not influence his work as a researcher, but this refers to the previous stage of the investigation, but not after elaborate. As people enjoy the values that identify us as individuals. With respect to piracy I can mention a number of values that are directly related to piracy, but I think the most important is governance. Why is governance? It's easy, more than anything this refers to the government and lawlessness that are driving because they could not eradicate the underlying problem. With governance, which is ideal, it is expected that the government enforce the laws, or rather, to monitor that people comply with the established laws. However, piracy is causing lawlessness because the government has taken steps to eliminate this problem that is hurting the economies of the people who pay taxes. Therefore require the government to take action on the matter and put a firm hand to stop this problem. Purposive: Piracy is a very clear example for this kind of rationality because in this type of rationality, individuals judge.

In this case, and rightly so, people who sell legal judge the pirates and the envy of the high income they receive for engaging in this type of activity. Under settings: You can also apply the theme of piracy in this type of rationality. The values are central to this rationality. Piracy is an illegal practice, therefore, violates the ethics and morals of society. Substantive: It is closely related according to values. It is used to implement a methodical ways of life according to the ethics and morals set by society. In this case, piracy breaks this kind of rationality. Formal: This type of rationality focuses on the means and ends. Speaking of piracy, people who pirate need to raise their incomes to live, their environment is piracy and its purpose is to survive. Purposive: This type of social action means that people are driven to an end. In the case of pirating, its purpose is to sell these products to improve its economy. On the side of the people who buy these products, your order is to buy a new product at a lower price of the set.

Under Values: This type of social action is related to ethical beliefs, moral and religious people. With respect to piracy, it is known that breaches the ethical and moral standards because it is an illegal act, therefore, piracy is against this type of social action. Affective: This type of action is related to how a person's emotional. In the case of piracy, we can guide us in how emotional the person who pirate and we can conclude that it is desperate to survive and is therefore dedicated to providing these products. With regard to the person who buys, is a person who does not have the money to get the product legally, therefore resort to piracy. Traditional: This type of action refers to the customs and traditions of the people. Mexico is well known that this practice has become a tradition. For example, in Guadalajara every Sunday people go to flea markets to buy the Santa Teresita products. It's a tradition to go to this flea market, and therefore can be considered as a custom that people go to this flea market to buy these products.

Caristmático For me it is because, unfortunately, people do not vote for the proposals, but vote for the popularity of their political leaders. This is very serious because that charisma is linked with the irresponsibility and we're seeing with this problem has not been able to fight. For example, when it's time to campaigns, candidates go to the market of St. John of God by vows, promising not to close the market. As a result, these characters gain sympathy. We live in a society that looks at the charisma, but in the long run, allows the company violates the law. Durkheim spoke of two ideal types of society, the most primitive and the modern. In the original actors all have similarities with respect to their way of life and are united. In modern society, its actors have differences with respect to their way of life yet are completely united. With respect to piracy we can say that modern society is because there are great differences with respect to their way of life, different ideas and knowledge. However, it is clear that there are quite united because there is no cooperation, or rather, that piracy is not allowed to be together because differences with respect to flows of ideas.

Piracy is an illegal act that some people approve and others do not. These sociologists were afraid of the masses due to the behavior of individuals, the imbalance that existed in society and the control that originated. Basically the lack of control among the masses was what they were concerned, the lack of values, ethics and morals. The social order, he said, did the individuals, through the institutions, however, there were a lack of control. Positivism is a sociological current that rejects universal concepts and focuses on the knowledge gained by experience. Maintains that the only scientific reality. Some of the early sociologists were positivist Auguste Comte, David Hume and Immanuel Kant. A significant difference is that Durkheim treats social facts as objects to better understand society and the individuals who compose it. On the other hand, Weber focuses on the history, ie, studies the social fact at the time of occurrence and history before and after to better understand society and a certain phenomenon. Another difference are the concepts that drive each.

For example, Durkheim talks about anomie, while Weber speaks of the ideal types of social actions, values, etc.. Weber focuses on values and religion, while Durkheim omits the values and religion because they said that they break with the development of sociology. It is clear that Durkheim was a positivist as Comte influential in their treaties, while Weber was historic by the method used.
