Webster's dictionary describes a manager as 'someone who manages or directs with a certain degree of skill'. But this definition is not rigid, as are the responsibilities. Alternatively, you can think of a manager as someone who controls resources and expenditures. A manager has 4 major roles to play in areas such as planning, organization, management or guidance and supervision. And 'this all it takes to become a manager? Unfortunately no, you must be responsible for the failures, while the credit can not be given to you for success (unless you are the owner). To understand how to prepare for management responsibilities, let's look first desirable management characteristics:
Attributes of a great manager
An exceptional manager is respected by both his peers and upper management. He is respected because he has qualities that others aspire to.
1. Task Manager is a Maker: A manager sets realistic goals achievable through hard work and breaks them up to share them among team members.
2. Industrious In Nature: generally characterized by a hard working nature and perseverance to work meticulously to promote the objectives.
3. Accessible: It 'a listener vivid and easily understandable. Available for discussion and is eager to help resolve issues.
4. Respectful: And 'perhaps for this character that commands respect from teammates. He is not disrespectful or a person you require the impossible. He has a perfect assessment of the individual, so he recognizes the difficulties and frustrations.
