World Series of Poker

The World Series of Poker (WSOP) and World Series of Poker is the poker tournament series most famous and important in the world. Consists of more than 50 tournaments of various forms of poker: Texas Holdem, Omaha, Seven Card Stud ... and various registration fees. It is held once a year in Las Vegas (United States) at the Rio Hotel & Casino and begins in early summer, usually in late May.

The winners of each of the events of the World Series receive a cash prize and a "bracelet" that has become the most valuable non-monetary prize for the poker players giving prestige to each player who has one, and there is also a ranking of players by the number of bracelets that have led by the temperamental American player Phil Hellmuth with 11 bracelets.

Of all the tournaments or events that comprise the World Series of Poker the most important is called the Main Event and Main Event where the winner is said to be the World Champion of Poker. This tournament is played in Texas Holdem No Limit form and the registration fee is $ 10,000. Despite the high cost of registration, the number of participants in this event has grown steadily to the 7.319 that competed in 2010, and between these participants are often strained American film star or sports, with names like Matt as usual Damon and Ben Affleck.

Competition in the main event or main event takes place over several days until there are only 9 players that will make the final table. At that time the tournament is postponed until November of that year for these players to make playing poker ambassadors around the world and getting sponsors, which has become more known for this event.

This year, 2010, the final victory was won by the Canadian player Jonathan Duhamel, besides the aforementioned "bracelet" raked in a whopping almost $ 9 million, I am also the first Canadian to win the Main Event.
